Where are you from?
Born in Leipzig, Germany
What is the arts community like there?
Leipzig has always been known for art music and architecture, but there is a fast-growing art scene with extremely talented artists
Has where you come from shaped who you are as an artist today?
Absolutely! I have been fortunate to have many creatives in my family. Having travelled extensively has added to my work as an artist
Where do you live now?
Henley-on-Thames, South Oxfordshire
When did you start to think about yourself as an artist?
I have always been creative but only after having my children I allowed myself to freely paint daily. Once collectors showed interest in my works, I finally felt like a real artist
What is something you do every day?
Drink good coffee
Where does your inspiration come from?
I am mostly inspired by surrounding nature, the change of seasons and light as well as ceramics I have collected over the years. During lockdown, my inspiration has been focused on everyday items at home, still life scenes mainly on my kitchen table and fresh flowers
What is your starting point when looking at a blank canvas?
To Gesso and then paint it a darker muted colour to cover up the white background

One work has a prayer written underneath the layers of paint
What is your most treasured possession?
My wedding ring
Who are your Muse(s) in real life?
My children. Watching them play freely reminds me to not take painting too serious, have fun, play, experiment and grow

What is the best exhibition you have seen in the last year?
No exhibitions in the last year but really looking forward to visiting many later this year
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
You can’t be everyone’s cup of tea
